Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant is a Chinese Restaurant that serves Shanghainese Xiao Long Bao, King Size Nanxiang Crab Roe Steam Soup Bun and other Shanghainese delights. The first Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant dates back over a century and it still remains a culinary icon at Shanghai's Cheng Huang Temple today.
Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant has an interior that is really unique where they uses the iconic 'zhen long' (bamboo baskets) for steaming buns as decorations. The restaurant is comfortable and it has a modern Chinese atmosphere to it.

The dishes that we ordered were:
Steamed Siew Mai with Fish Roe
King Sized Nanxiang Crab Roe Steamed Soup Bun
Shanghai Pan-Fried Pork Bun
Crab Roe Fen Pi
On the whole, I like their food. In particular, I like their Steamed Siew Mai, Crab Roe Fen Pi and Shanghai Pan-Fried Pork Bun. Their Siew Mai is really nice, their Pork Bun is delicious and their Fen Pi is really soft and smooth!
After our dinner and shopping, we headed over to Ah Chew for some mouth watering desserts. There were long queue at every dessert shops and since there were queue everywhere, we chose to queue for our Ah Chew dessert without any hesitation.
Well, Ah Chew Desserts is a dessert shop offering a wide range of hot and cold, traditional and modern desserts for all young and old with sweet tooth.
If there are crowds like today, you can see that there will be two queues. The first queue is to queue for seats and the next queue is to queue for ordering. After the two queues, you will then wait patiently for your desserts to be served before you can get to finally enjoy your desserts. It's a long wait, but it's worth it and if you are with your friends, you might not even feel that the queuing time is long.
Here's the desserts that we ordered:
Top: Mango Sago
Bottom (left to right): Aloe Vera with Lime and Honey, Water Chestnut herbal jelly with egg
All in all, I feel that the Mango Sago is always good, the Water Chestnut herbal jelly with egg is kind of weird and Aloe Vera with Lime and Honey is cooling but it's a little too sweet.
