Fast & Furious 6

Watched the Fast & Furious 6 at AMK Hub with B. I must say, it's a very good film with lots of actions and stunts. It is fast-paced with lots of car-chase scenes and I really enjoy every bit of it. It is exciting and entertaining at the same time. And lastly, I must say that they did a very good job for the closing where they give us an excitement to the next instalment. Catch it before it zooms away!

But you might ask, how do you achieve K-Beauty looks?

The secret is Laneige! Yes, you can be inspired and create your own K-Beauty looks with Laneige, one of Korea’s leading premium cosmetic brand. And you could achieve K-Beauty looks like Song Hye Kyo~

Laneige was launched in 1994 in Korea, it is a premium cosmetic brand that promotes lively, youthful skin with its most advanced ‘water science’ technology. Meaning ‘natural snow’ in French, Laneige values the artistic sense of snow crystals and its source, water. Positioning itself as the ‘moisture-expert’ brand, Laneige introduces a variety of ‘Water-full’ skincare and make-up products to bring confidence and sophisticated beauty to young female consumers, and women who want to achieve the radiant, dewy skin they have always longed for. Since its first launch overseas in 2002, Laneige can be found in 475 counters, in department stores and freestanding stores across 13 countries around the globe, as of December 2012.
From what I know, water and moisture are very important in keeping the skin radiant and young. I chanced upon Laneige a while ago and after looking through their products on their websites, I really feel like trying them out.

Among all, my favourite Laneige skincare product will be the Water Sleeping Pack.

Why?

Because it has a light gel-type texture, so there will be no stickiness after applying and it will be comfortable to sleep with. And most importantly, the Water Sleeping Pack is able to provides intensive hydration, vitality, and brightening effect, all while I am asleep!

Isn't this great?!

Well, Laneige also have a range of make-up products!

And my favourite Laneige make-up product will be the Snow BB Soothing Cushion.

Why?

The reason is that the Snow BB Soothing Cushion contains five active ingredients all in one product. So what are the five benefits?

Look at the picture below and you will know~

Whitening + Sun Protection + Soothing Effect + Sweat-Proof + Skin Tone Correction

Good right?! ^_^

In particular, I like the Sweat-Proof and the Sun Protection feature the most.

I feel that the Sweat-Proof formula is good, especially good for hot and humid country like Singapore. This is because with the Sweat-Proof formula, the make-up will be able to stay beautifully throughout the whole day, providing long-lasting coverage all day long.

The Sun Protection of SPF50 PA+++ is really convenient as it is able to help in protecting the skin from the harmful UV rays, without having to apply any separate sunscreen. This is good especially when you are running late for work, school or date.

Furthermore, the Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion is compact so it is very convenient for you to bring it anywhere. This way, touching up is easy and hence, making flawless skin possible anytime, anywhere!

To conclude, I really love their products! After looking through them, I am so tempted to try them all and I hope to create my own K-Beauty looks~

Are you tempted to try them too?

After all the old goldfishes said goodbye, the tank seems so empty and lonely. It is until today that the tank revived its liveliness as six new goldfishes own the tank now.

Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant + Ah Chew Dessert @ Bugis

Travelled down to Tiong Bahru to meet Amanda and G and we headed over to Bugis Junction for our dinner at Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant.

Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant is a Chinese Restaurant that serves Shanghainese Xiao Long Bao, King Size Nanxiang Crab Roe Steam Soup Bun and other Shanghainese delights. The first Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant dates back over a century and it still remains a culinary icon at Shanghai's Cheng Huang Temple today.

Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant has an interior that is really unique where they uses the iconic 'zhen long' (bamboo baskets) for steaming buns as decorations. The restaurant is comfortable and it has a modern Chinese atmosphere to it.

The dishes that we ordered were:

Steamed Siew Mai with Fish Roe

King Sized Nanxiang Crab Roe Steamed Soup Bun

Shanghai Pan-Fried Pork Bun

Crab Roe Fen Pi

On the whole, I like their food. In particular, I like their Steamed Siew Mai, Crab Roe Fen Pi and Shanghai Pan-Fried Pork Bun. Their Siew Mai is really nice, their Pork Bun is delicious and their Fen Pi is really soft and smooth!

After our dinner and shopping, we headed over to Ah Chew for some mouth watering desserts. There were long queue at every dessert shops and since there were queue everywhere, we chose to queue for our Ah Chew dessert without any hesitation.

Well, Ah Chew Desserts is a dessert shop offering a wide range of hot and cold, traditional and modern desserts for all young and old with sweet tooth.

If there are crowds like today, you can see that there will be two queues. The first queue is to queue for seats and the next queue is to queue for ordering. After the two queues, you will then wait patiently for your desserts to be served before you can get to finally enjoy your desserts. It's a long wait, but it's worth it and if you are with your friends, you might not even feel that the queuing time is long.

Here's the desserts that we ordered:

Top: Mango Sago
Bottom (left to right): Aloe Vera with Lime and Honey, Water Chestnut herbal jelly with egg

All in all, I feel that the Mango Sago is always good, the Water Chestnut herbal jelly with egg is kind of weird and Aloe Vera with Lime and Honey is cooling but it's a little too sweet.

Nam Kee Chicken Rice @ Upper Thomson

Nam Kee is famous for their chicken rice and it is always crowded. I feel that their dishes taste really home cooked.

This is a place that B and I frequent. We have been dining in this place for countless times and people who know us in person would know that we often visit this place for chicken rice. One of the reason that we frequent this chicken rice shop is because it is near our place and also due to the fact that B likes to eat chicken rice.

These were the dishes we ordered today:

Chicken

Cai Xin

Toufu

In my opinion, I feel that their chicken is good as it is not too oily and the meat is tender and delicious. I like!

Hoshino Coffee @ PS

Amanda and I went to Plaza Singapura to meet G for dinner. We chose to have our dinner at Hoshino Coffee because there is no queue so we do not need to queue. According to Amanda and G, Hoshino Coffee always have very long queue. Since Amanda and I were early and we saw that there was no queue, we chose to try it! We happily went in before the queue starts to form and we sit in the cafe while waiting for G to arrive.

Hoshino Coffee is a Japanese Cafe. It is a very nice place for coffee, desserts or even brunch/dinner. They specializes in hand-dripped coffee, which is lighter and cleaner in taste as compared to kopi and the espresso drinks that we are familiar with. In addition, I feel that the ambience is very relaxing and the interior is nicely done. The whole place make you feel really cosy and comfortable.

Hoshino Coffee Cafe

While we were waiting for G, we saw that the queue gets longer and longer as the time gets later. By the time G reached, there was already long queue outside the cafe. We were lucky that we went in early to avoid the queuing.

Below were the few dishes that we ordered:

"Hoshino" Blended Coffee

Tomato Cream "Omu" Rice with Shrimp and Mozzarella

"Fuwa Fuwa" (fluffy) Hoshino Souffle

Matcha Softee

Chocolat Fondant

On the whole, I feel that although their menu is not a lot but in my opinion, their food is good and their coffee is nice. In particular, I like their desserts the most. Their Softee is really soft and nice and the Chocolat Fondant is simply yummy.

The "Fuwa Fuwa" (fluffy) Hoshino Souffle is really fluffy and creamy, it nice but I don't really like the fluffiness and I can't eat alot of it as I feel that the cream makes me feel really full. On the other hand, their Tomato Cream "Omu" Rice with Shrimp and Mozzarella is delicious, it makes me eat mouth after mouth of it and I simply can't get sick of it.

Silver Garden Restaurant + McCafe @ ARC

Today is Mother's Day! First of all, I would like to wish all mothers and grandmothers, an awesome Happy Mother's Day!

G and our family had an unplanned, last minute date dinner at the Silver Garden Restaurant. The Silver Garden Restaurant is a Chinese Restaurant where they serve a range of Chinese dishes and cuisines. Furthermore, they also do wedding package dishes and offer their store as a wedding reception for the newly weds.

We ordered several dishes and the pictures are below! Well, I did not do the ordering so I am not very sure about the exact name of all the dishes that we ordered. So, I will let the picture do the talking~ Because.. Pictures speak louder than words! ^_^

Chinese Tea

Meat

Meat

Noodle

Toufu

Crab Meat Fish Maw Soup

Lemon Grass Dessert

On the whole, I feel that the dishes were so-so - the food is not bad but they are not really fantastic. It might be due to a large amount of crowds on a special occasion like Mother's Day where the restaurant were overwhelm with the preparation of foods and hence the food on a special day like today is usually not that fantastic as compared to normal days. Besides, on special occasion, popular food are always sold out and it's hard for you to get to order them. :(

After our dinner, we headed over to McCafe for some drinks. We ordered Cappuccino, Hot Chocolate, Tea.

Top: Hot Chocolate, Bottom: Cappucino

We had a very full dinner with loads of water~

Island Cafe @ Tangs + David Loman

Got a pair of premiere tickets to《大尾鲈鳗》David Loman at Shaw Lido. Thanks to Amanda, I got to watch this film before it is out in cinemas with G.

Before the movie, G and I ate our dinner at Island Cafe, Tangs. The Island Cafe have a rustic and cozy ambience and the lighting is soothing. I find that it is a perfect place to stop by for some bites in-between shopping sessions.

The Menu

Well, I like variety, so we ordered Asian Platter and Big Prawn Mee Soup to share.

Asian Platter - assortment of satay, fried wonton, chicken wings and spring rolls

Big Prawn Mee Soup

The Big Prawn Mee Soup have a super big prawn! Look at how big the prawn is, it is as big as the plate! Take a look at it below and you will see...

Big Prawn

The big prawn is very big isn't it? On the whole, I find that their satay and spring rolls are nice, and their Big Prawn Mee Soup is yummy - the prawns are big, juicy and fresh. I like the big prawn the most! We had a complimentary cake due to birthday month I guess and we choose to get the carrot cake. We take-away it as we were running late for our show.

Luckily, even though we were late for the show, we were allowed to collect our tickets and we did not miss any part of the show, the show start just nice after we settle down in our seats! Furthermore, we got our seats at the centre of the theatre even though we went in late and it was free seating by the way. How lucky! ^_^

David Loman is quite a funny film. In my opinion, one will enjoy the film better if one is able to understand Hokkien well because very often, I find myself having to read the sub titles in order to understand what they are saying. I feel that this film uses clever twist of languages and dialects (English, Mandarin and Hokkien) to create humour and puns. However, the humour and puns in this film seldom deviate away from cheap jokes and sexist jokes, hence, it can be offensive to some. Other than the humour, I find that the comic-like feature that link between the film and the inspiration gathered from comics were pretty well done. This film put much focus on humour, so one should not put too much expectation on their storyline as it is the comedy that drives the film after all. All in all, I would say watch this film if you're looking for some good slapstick humour. But do be sure that you know your Hokkien well enough and also be open about the sexist jokes as it can be entertaining but also offensive to some.
