The Lone Ranger

Thanks to Nuffnang, I got a pair of tickets to The Lone Ranger but it can only be watched after 18 July, Monday to Thursday only. So after 18 July, I have been having a hard time to watch this movie because the timings doesn't match the timing that I am able to watch. Furthermore, the choices of location and timing for this film is really very very few, therefore, making it even harder to catch this show.

My Complimentary Pass

And finally, I get to watch The Lone Ranger at VivoCity with MM today.

Well, I find that this film is very original and the comedy-action sequences on the fast moving trains at the beginning and ending of film is great. However, the storyline is not easy to follow and the film is a bit draggy. Anyway, in my opinion, I find that Tonto (Johnny Depp) is an interesting character that will stay in your mind throughout and after the film. He is a character that is really funny.

Introduction
The Lone Ranger is a 2013 American western action film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films and directed by Gore Verbinski. Based on the radio series of the same name, the film stars Johnny Depp as Tonto, the narrator of the events, and Armie Hammer as John Reid (The Lone Ranger). It relates Tonto's memories of the duo's earliest efforts to subdue the immoral actions of the corrupt and bring justice in the American Old West. William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, Ruth Wilson, James Badge Dale, and Helena Bonham Carter also are featured in supporting roles. The film marks the first theatrical film featuring the Lone Ranger and Tonto characters in more than 32 years.

Story
At a sideshow in a San Francisco fair in 1933, a boy, Will, who idolizes a legend known as the Lone Ranger, encounter Tonto, an elderly Comanche Native American, who proceeds to recount his experiences with that Old West adventurer.

Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice--taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

Pacific Rim

Watched Pacific Rim at AMK Hub with B today. It has been a long time since we watched a movie together. I think our last show was Fast and Furious 6 in May if I'm not wrong. Haha

Anyway back to the topic, Pacific Rim! Well, I feel that Pacific Rim is an entertaining film where there are many awesome effects throughout the film. There are lots of computer-generated effects between the Monsters (the Kaijus) and the Giant Robots and the great actions between them will keep you entertained. In my opinion, if you like the Transformers, you will definitely like this film as well. Oh and lastly, do wait till the end for a complete show!

Introduction
Pacific Rim is a 2013 American science fiction film directed by Guillermo del Toro, written by del Toro and Travis Beacham, and starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, and Ron Perlman. The film is set in the 2020s, when Earth is under attack by Kaiju, colossal monsters which have emerged from a portal on the ocean floor.

Story
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Red Star Restaurant @ Chin Swee Road

The Red Star Restaurant is an authentic Cantonese dim sum place at affordable price. At Red Star, there's this nostalgic feeling of being in an authentic yum cha house as you will see waitresses pushing the dim sum carts around the place.

B and I had our brunch at Red Star Restaurant and this was actually a very rare occasion where we meet on a weekend to have brunch together.

We were lucky that the queue was not very long when we arrived but while we were eating, the crowds arrived and long long queues could be seen.

Well, we ordered quite a bit of dim sums so I'll let the photos do the talking. Hehe

Rice (I forgot the exact name for it >_<)

Fried Beancurd Roll

Mango Prawn

Century Egg Congee

Paper Chicken

Shrimp Dumplings

Siew Mai

Lotus Root

Chee Cheong Fun

Fried Banana

All in all, I like all the dim sums that we ordered except the rice. In particular, I love the Mango Prawn, the Lotus Root and the Paper Chicken. The Mango Prawn tasted really delicious and fresh, the Lotus Root is really crunchy and appetizing, and the Paper Chicken is juicy and tender. Yummy~

Saizeriya @ The Cathay

Today, I had my dinner at Saizeriya, The Cathay with Amanda. This was actually the first time I tried Saizeriya at other outlets other than the outlet at Toa Payoh.

We ordered Chicken Gratin, Cheese Chicken Steak and we topped up to get our free flow drink bar.

Right-top: Chicken Gratin, Right-bottom: Cheese Chicken Steak

In my opinion, I actually find that the food tasted better than the outlet at Toa Payoh. (Maybe it's just me. Haha) However, I find that the drink bar is better at the Toa Payoh outlet because there are more hot drinks (I personally like the Japanese Green Tea there) as compared to The Cathay outlet. But if you are a fan of cold drinks then you may prefer the drink bar at The Cathay outlet as there are more varieties of cold drinks.

Charly T’s @ Handy Road + Hoshino Coffee @ PS

I walked around Tiong Bahru Plaza while waiting for Amanda. After she's done with her stuff, we headed down to Handy Road together with G and GM for our dinner.

We had our dinner at Charly T's. Charly T's have a few outlets around Singapore and we visited the one at Handy Road. They serves comfort food from around the world, prepared with fresh local ingredients.

The dishes that we ordered were Negima Salmon Yakitori with Butter Garlic Rice, Ribeye Steak with Fresh Vegetables and Charly T's Famous Rotisserie Chicken that comes with two sides. For the two sides, we chose German Potato Salad and Fresh Vegetables. Additionally, we also ordered four glasses of Green Flash. It is mixed juice of green apple, orange and pineapple.

Charly T's Famous Rotisserie Chicken that comes with two sides

Side 1: German Potato Salad

Side 2: Fresh Vegetables

In my opinion, their food is nice and I especially like their chicken. I find that their chicken is really juicy and tasty, it is very well done. The only thing that I do not like is that they do not have a print out of the menu and we had to make our order at the counter ourselves.

After our dinner, we headed over to Plaza Singapura to for some shopping and coffee. We went to Hoshino Coffee again but this time we only ordered drinks.

We ordered one Matcha (Hot), one Pure Darjeeling Tea (Lemon) and two "Hoshino" Blended Coffee.

"Hoshino" Blended Coffee

Matcha (Hot)

Pure Darjeeling Tea (Lemon)

"Hoshino" Blended Coffee is their signature and their tea is not bad as well.

Remember Johnny Depp from the Pirates of the Caribbean?

If you remember him, you might be interested in his upcoming film called The Lone Ranger. But this time, he is not a "savvy-ing" pirate but a Native American spiritual warrior, Tonto.

The Lone Ranger is produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. It is directed by Gore Verbinski and is based on the American Old West character serials of the same name. This film stars Armie Hammer in the title role (John Reid/The Lone Ranger) and Johnny Depp as Tonto, together with, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter.

In The Lone Ranger, the story takes the viewers on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction and the two unlikely heroes (Lone Ranger and Tonto), must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

Feeling Excited about this film?

Yes! I am very excited about this film mainly because I really enjoyed watching Pirates of the Caribbean and through Pirates, I got to watch Johnny Depp's acting. And I would say that his acting is really good and I enjoyed every bit of his scenes.

In addition, I must say that team of Pirates did a very good job in their production works and the film is very well done. Hence, with The Lone Ranger, being a production from the team that brought us the Pirates of the Caribbean, I would really love catch more of their productions and I am really anticipating to catch it.

The Lone Ranger will be releasing in Singapore cinemas on 4 July 2013. Are you as excited as I am to catch this film?

World War Z

Amanda and I got a pair of premiere tickets to World War Z at The Cathay. So, we got to watch this film before it is out in cinemas with MM and Char.

I feel that World War Z is quite an entertaining film. In a sense that the film flow well and it is not draggy. The pace is fast and hyperactive. What's best is that the film feels like a perfectly well-made zombie video game adaptation and I kind of feel like I am watching, for instance, the L4D game. Hahaha

Overall, I feel that World War Z is a moderately good zombie movie. It is entertaining enough to worth your time and money, so watch it if you want to get some entertainment.

World War Z is a 2013 apocalyptic horror film directed by Marc Forster. The screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan is based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Max Brooks. Monsters University

Got a pair of premiere tickets to Monsters University in 3D at The Cathay. Thanks to Nuffnang, I got to watch this film before it is out in cinemas with Char.

I had to rush down to The Cathay for the movie. Hence, I do not have much time to eat my dinner and had to settle with a fast bite at the Popeyes. Bought a small popcorn + nuggets set to the theatre as Char wanted it.

It had been a long time since I last watched a 3D movie because 3D movie makes me rather giddy after watching. However, I think that the 3D now have improved ever since. It doesn't makes me feel giddy and the glasses is much lighter now.

Prior to the film, there's a short film called The Blue Umbrella which is rather entertaining and funny. It was very enjoyable watching it.

The Blue Umbrella is a 2013 Pixar computer-animated short film that is released alongside Monsters University. The short film is directed by Saschka Unseld of Pixar's technical department. The six-minute film is about a blue umbrella that takes a fancy to a red umbrella and, in trying to follow that fancy, gets weather-beaten and wind-blown during a rainstorm.

Alright, now let me talk about the main film, Monsters University!

In my opinion, the film is really cute and funny. I would say it is a film that is very suitable for families with children. I feel that the storyline is good and the animation is done really well. It makes me want to see more but the only possible way to see more is to watch the 2001 sequel, Monsters, Inc. Haha. And lastly, if you are going to watch this film, do wait till the end of the credits for a surprise!

Satay By The Bay @ Gardens By The Bay

Went Gardens by the Bay with B and B's family for dinner at Satay by the Bay.

Satay By The Bay

Before we had our dinner, we walk around a while to take some beautiful evening photos of the surroundings sceneries. I would say that this is a great place for photo shooting because of the nice sceneries that will make your photographs look really awesome. And these were some of the beautiful evening shots of the nice sceneries that I took.

Beautiful Evening

After feeding the camera with beautiful photos, it's time to feed our stomach. We saw that there are many satay stalls and there are several small tables and chairs in the outdoor open areas.

Satay Stalls

But we chose to dine indoor and below were the dishes that we ate~

Octopus

Vegetable

Toufu

Fish

Chicken

Satay

Mixed Platter

Overall, I feel that all the food are nice, especially, the chicken and the satay. In my opinion, the chicken is not too dry and not too oily, it is soft, juicy and tender. The satay is very nice, it taste really good and it's not over-cooked. Yummy!

Besides, the chicken and satay, I also find that the octopus is actually quite good. Because I am a person who don't really like to eat octopus but after I tried, I actually find that the octopus is really quite nice. It is soft and the chilli gravy taste really good.

After our dinner, I capture some beautiful night shots. So, let me end this post with the beautiful night scene that I took! Good Night~

Beautiful Night

Din Tai Fung @ Bishan

Had dinner at Din Tai Fung with family. We chose to dine at Din Tai Fung because we saw that the crowds have not arrived yet as we were slightly early and hence, we do not need to queue to get our food! Haha

Din Tai Fung is a popular Taiwanese restaurant chain with many branches throughout the world, including Singapore, Thailand, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and USA. They are famous for their xiao long baos (steamed pork dumplings).

Well, we ate quite a variety of dishes and below were the pictures of the foods that we had.

Hmmm... I think I will let the photos do the talking! So, enjoy~

Oriental Salad in Special Vinegar Dressing

Original Shanghainese Drunken Chicken

Oriental Wantons with Black Vinegar & Chilli Oil

Steamed Pork Rib Soup

Steamed Pork Dumplings

Fried Rice with Shredded Pork & Eggs

Fried Rice with Shrimps & Eggs

Steamed Chicken Dumplings

Steamed Shrimp & Pork Dumplings

Steamed Shrimp & Pork Shao-mai

There was a promotion where we get a Red Bean Rice Dumpling and $5 Voucher with a minimum spendings of $80 and payment by OCBC card.

And with all the dishes that we had, we managed to get our free Red Bean Rice Dumpling and $5 voucher!

Red Bean Rice Dumpling

The red bean rice dumpling is actually very nice, the sweetness of the red bean blends very well with the rice of the dumpling. Yum~

All in all, I particularly like the Oriental Salad in Special Vinegar Dressing, the Oriental Wantons with Black Vinegar & Chilli Oil and the Steamed Pork Dumplings.

I find that the Oriental Salad in Special Vinegar Dressing is a very appetizing appetizer as it is able to whet my appetite.

The skin of the Oriental Wantons with Black Vinegar & Chilli Oil is very thin and soft, the wanton is fresh and the black vinegar and chilli oil offers a great flavour to this dish.

And the signature Steamed Pork Dumplings is very juicy and delicious.

Well, all the food are really not bad! Especially the three dishes that I mention above. ^_^
